Handyman FAQ

Handyman pricing & booking — your questions answered

Straight answers on what a handyman costs in the GTA, how quotes and flat rates work, and what's covered.

How much does a handyman cost per hour in the Greater Toronto Area?

BuildMan charges flat rates, not an open-ended hourly meter: $150 for a 1-hour visit, $280 for 2 hours and $410 for 3 hours across Toronto and the GTA, with travel included and no separate trip fee. After 3 hours it's $85/hour. Materials are billed at supplier cost. The flat rate means you know the price before we start.

Can I get an instant online handyman quote before committing to a booking?

Yes. Tell us the job through the quote form or by phone and we'll confirm the flat-rate tier (1, 2 or 3 hours) and a same-day or next-day window within 60 minutes during business hours — with no obligation to book. For a single small job you'll usually know it fits the 1-hour $150 rate right away.

What's the minimum charge to hire a handyman in Toronto?

The minimum is the 1-hour flat rate of $150, which already includes travel anywhere in the GTA. There's no call-out fee or two-hour minimum on top, so a 30-minute fix is billed at the 1-hour rate, not padded out.

Do you offer same-day handyman service?

Most weekdays, yes — especially if you call before noon. Same-day and next-day appointments are billed at the same flat rates with no rush surcharge. We confirm the window within 60 minutes during business hours (Mon–Sat, 8 AM–6 PM).

Are you licensed, insured and WSIB-covered?

Yes. BuildMan carries $2M liability insurance and WSIB coverage, and our technicians are builder-trained full-time employees, not subcontractors. Every job is backed by a workmanship guarantee — if something isn't right, we come back and fix it at no charge.

What handyman jobs can you do in one visit?

Bundling is the best value under flat-rate pricing. A single 2- or 3-hour visit can cover TV mounting, fixture swaps, drywall patching, door adjustments, painting touch-ups and furniture assembly — we work through your list in priority order. Send photos when you book so we arrive with the right parts and finish on the first visit.

Can a handyman do electrical or plumbing work in Ontario?

We handle fixture-level work — swapping light fixtures, faucets, toilets and switches where the wiring or plumbing already exists. New circuits, panel work, re-piping or moving a drain require a licensed trade under Ontario rules, and we'll tell you plainly when a job needs one and can refer a licensed electrician or plumber.

How do I pay, and are materials included?

You pay after the work is done and you're satisfied — e-transfer, Visa, Mastercard, Amex, debit or cash. Labour is the flat rate; materials (faucets, mounts, paint, anchors) are billed at supplier cost with the receipt, and we confirm material costs before buying anything. HST is added at invoicing per Ontario law.
